ALEXANDER MCQUEEN: SAVAGE BEAUTY EXHIBITION.
I went to view the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Alexander McQueen has been my favourite fashion designer since I studied GCSE fashion design. This exhibition was very important for me to go and visit as I am basing a huge part of my dissertation on Mcqueen and his different collections. The exhibition showcases all the very best collections he created, as well as headpieces, shoes, body armour and jewellery that you can view up-close. This allows the public to experience first hand how detailed and elaborate his work really is. The collections are separated into different rooms with different music and quotes to match the feel of the collection being shown. One of my favourite rooms were displaying McQueen’s “Eshu” Autumn/Winter 2000 collection. Inspired by a tribe, the room was covered from ceiling to floor in bones, the lighting was very dim and the music was powerful, like the beat of a jungle drum. As you walked in, it was as if you were being transported to a different world.
